About this book...
This catalogue documents the San Diego Museum of Art's collection of Belleroche's works on paper,
the largest in the United States, as well as documents the first exhibition of this collection at
the museum. Written by the Museum's curator of European art Steven Kern, the catalogue represents
the first publication by a museum since 1933 on the artist's lithographic work. Drawing on Belleroche's
log book, art criticism by Belleroche's contemporaries, and histories by authors who knew the artist
personally, Kern's scholarly essay provides an in-depth analysis of Belleroche's art which was at
the forefront of the turn-of-the-century renaissance of lithography. The cover of this elegant
softcover publication is done in letterpress, evocative of the look and feel of the printmaker's
craft. 61 pages, 40 full color plates, bibliography, 9" x 12".
