About the video...
In an extensive interview filmed in 1961, Man Ray speaks of, and with, his fellow artists of the Dada and Surrealist movements in Paris and the United States. Through conversations and Man Ray’s portrait photography, we meet painter Max Ernst, Ray’s friend for over 20 years; Salvador Dali, photographed when his moustache was still "timid"; and many beautiful female models, all rumored to have been Ray’s mistresses. The American painter and photographer also shares his personal vision- his fascination with man-made objects, mathematical models, and the validity of the camera.

Combining reminiscence, anecdote, and visual material, this program reports insightfully on the life, work, and times of Man Ray.
