About this item...
Best know as a photographer, painter in his early days, Man Ray never stopped
painting his whole life. He was also a cinematographer and creator of objects.
He was an agitator of ideas, was part of Dadaism and then Surrealism, he made light
of photography techniques by innovating. A precursor and an avant-gardist, he was
among the first to give images a new and hidden meaning.
The Man Ray Fautographe CD Portfolio offers a selection of his main
photographs and an overview of the multiple facets of this work:
paintings, drawings, objects, cinema (still frames taken from his films).
600 works, including the best-known pictures, as well as some unpublished items,
divided into 9 chapters with the possibility of interactive access by theme or
technique.
Comments taken from interviews with Man Ray's voice, readings of his writings,
poems of Paul Eluard, excerpts from Andre Breton, original music,...
All of the works presented are by Man Ray, but a few photographs representing
objects or self-portraits may not actually have been made by the artist.
