Bill Coleman
Inspired by the pristine ambiance of a remote valley untouched by modern America, Bill Coleman photographs the people, places and happenstances of the Old Order Amish with a love for them and their way of life - and yet with as little intrusion in their lives as possible.

In two decades, Bill has become known as a foremost recorder of Old Order Amish life. After receiving a degree in English from Penn State, he studied photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Frequent trips to Europe in the 60s and 70s formed the basis of his exposure to art.

In 1976, Bill discovered,an Old Order Amish valley that would become the focus of his life. From that point on, his life changed radically, as he worked knowing it was just a matter of time before even these Amish would become part of the 20th century. It soon became an odyssey cum love affair in intimately recording this unique lifestyle.

Bill devotes several days a week to phtographing this valley. Any and all remaining time is devoted to lovingly hand printing each and every image of his limited edition photos. They are on display in his State College, Pennsylvania gallery.
